13 Reasons I didn’t get this post written.

Post image for 13 Reasons I didn’t get this post written.

This is obviously not the post you are supposed to be reading but just go with me.  My husband’s away.  Again.

  1. Fed/watered/played with menagerie at home, convinced girls to leave the extremely pregnant guinea pig alone.  Searched for big girl’s bike helmet.  Went out to farm and fed chickens, didn’t seem to mind that their feed had been rained on.
  2. Girls made fairy bread.  Searched for big girl’s bike helmet.
  3. Got ready for preschool, big girl made her own lunch. Aww.  Searched for big girl’s bike helmet.
  4. Dodged raindrops riding to school and dropped big girl off.  Played in preschool playground with little one riding and feeding horses and driving the boat to the shops.
  5. Little one decided to spend the day with imaginary Poppy, had to be careful of him running along beside us on the way home.  She caught sight of magnets so nap was delayed while we (and Poppy) played with them.  Had to stay with her during nap because she kept jerking awake to check Poppy was still there.
  6. Dodged raindrops to collect big girl, little one decided to run home wearing her bike helmet and got an impressive distance before the inevitable trip and full length sprawl.
  7. Afternoon ‘relaxing time,’ = constant stream of drinks and snacks for girls while trying to do some work on getting new kitchen ordered.  Give up.
  8. Girls helped clean and vacuum kitchen and area near my desk while searching for big girl’s bike helmet.  Much cajoling (some in an extremely loud voice) but later comments that ‘this is actually fun!’  Girls helped make chicken burgers and salad, probably the most harmonious meal we’ve ever had with Daddy away.
  9. Went out to farm to let chickens out for a while.  Spent time gardening, using a mattock to pull out big clumps of feral grass is the only way to weed.
  10. Found big girl’s helmet.  In the pram outside in the rain.
  11. Put both girls in bath, got one out to halt brewing fight.  Teeth brushed, PJs on, books read, Daddy called 6 times in an attempt to say goodnight, fell asleep with them.
  12. Wake up, long and involved text conversation with Daddy about paint, furniture, Christmas presents, bras and anything else he needs to look at/buy while in town.  Establish I don’t want matching knickers because I’m fussy about them.
  13. Interspersed with research for the post I’m supposed to be writing and getting sidetracked on pumpkins, cats, witches, ergot, black death and urban legends resulting in flicking between (ironically) 13 webpages.  Little one has nightmare.  While settling her I have a brainwave and write this post instead.

Normal transmission will resume at some point.

What a deprived childhood! 😉 Fairy bread is a children’s party staple, bread and butter with hundreds and thousands sprinkled on it. Are they called hundreds and thousands over there? Little coloured sprinkles for the top of cakes.

Honestly, that sounds like a fairly typical day in the life of a mom! LOL…

And, I’ve never heard of fairy bread either. I do feel deprived.

LOL I never heard of fairy bread. I just asked my 16yr old and she says her boyfriend makes it all the time with choc sprinkles. She shrugs and say, “I don’t know, it’s a Dutch thing.” lol
Happy Halloween!

Wow, what a full day! I forget what it’s like having little ones around now that we don’t live near all of our friends and family with children. Once again I share the fact that I admire moms completely! 🙂

Happy TT,

It’s probably a good thing that I don’t know what Fairy Bread is.

Have a great Thursday!

#5 is priceless: “…Had to stay with her during nap because she kept jerking awake to check Poppy was still there.”

A great T13 list – good job!
