Wordless Wednesday – Hot Rocks

by Deb on June 15, 2011

Hot Rocks

I found this fabulous idea at Irresistible Ideas for Play Based Learning and couldn’t wait to try it with the girls.

We heated them in the oven at about 150 for a few minutes.

Then we drew on them with wax crayons.

We realised it wasn't about drawing but going slowly and letting the crayon melt.

Big girl thought this one looked like a dinosaur.

This was a definite hit, and seeing we have a huge supply of rocks and crayons it’s something we’ll be doing again soon. The wax had a beautiful smooth texture when it cooled, investigating it melting and setting was as popular as trying all the different colours.
