Wordless Wednesday – the Mad Hatterpillar

by Deb on April 21, 2010

Mad Hatterpillar

With thanks to Kristine from Bilbified for telling me about this, and Holophusicon where it actually came from.  A WA moth has this amazing caterpillar.  Every time it moults it keeps the head capsule and puts it back on its head.  So by the time it’s in the last caterpillar phase it can look like this!  I thought it was so cool I had to share it.

I have never heard of such a thing. I do love bugs and all things natural. Glad you posted this funny little caterpillar.
