Being outside is so fabulous. We are getting some empty under bed storage boxes and filling them with sand and toys for the girls to play with outside during summer. I needed something easily sealed up at night and not too big, so the underbed storage boxes were our solution.

Marita’s solution is great if you don’t have a permanent sand pit! Ours needs new sand, so thanks for the reminder. Have been meaning to get into the gardening with the kids. A definite job for us early in the new year! Have a great Christmas. See you in 2011 🙂

The usual, feed the chickens and goats, check the raspberry bushes to see if there’s any more autumn raspberries to pick, play in the mud pit or on the dirt pile or in the sandpit, or all three. Do some gardening, probably have some fun pretend camping with the tent and fire pit set up in the backyard. And as master 4yr old is really into space and astronauts right now probably take off in our pretend rocket ship to explore some planets. I might even try to squeeze some housework in too.

First – I loved your photos and left a separate comment but for some reason I couldn’t comment directly on them 🙁

That sounds like an amazing day. We love our chickens and I remember our fruit trees from when I was a kid with much fondness, sadly we’ve moved around too much to have something like that. And our sandpit is always a huge hit.

We love our chooks too, so fun to watch, and they tolerate the boys following them around really well. And who can’t love a sandpit! If only the cat didn’t love it too when I forget to put the cover on overnight :-/ And I took my space obsessed preschooler to the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex on Thursday and he got a lot more out of it than I thought he would which is great. Followed by a visit to the adventure playground at a nearby nature reserve – he wants to do it all over again this week. I’ve been interested in astronomy since I was a kid so I’m having as good a time as he is with his space kick at the moment- we even made space playdough yesterday!
