Do you have a favourite?

by Deb on February 22, 2011

Squee!  I’ve been invited to submit something for possible inclusion in an Australian science writing anthology.

So what’s a blogger to do but ask her readers for their favourites?

Do you have a favourite post that you think will get me in?  Please let me know in the comments today or tomorrow because I have to be quick, don’t worry about links just give me a vague idea and I’ll find it!

Edit: I’ve been asked to put together a shortlist, I’ve made it into a poll to make it nice and easy for you, you can vote for 3 different posts.  And of course you can add your favourites if they aren’t here.

That list is geared toward anti anti-vac posts.

My favorites:
Dancing sultanas.
Xmas geek bottles.
The lights on/off stars one (12month ago)
Anythat give good ideas for teaching concepts
The herd immunity one.

I looked at that and tried to balance it, there’s only two and one was requested, the other is one of my most popular posts on the stats. Plus one of the major roles of science writing is to help people in their everyday lives, so explaining the science behind something like vaccination is extremely important.

I was also trying to avoid the activities, even though they’re actually my favourites I don’t think they would fit in with the collection – I should probably ask rather than just assuming that! Thanks for answering and questioning.

I understand now.

I wrote a long response to your herd immunity thread (it was inciteful to an educated woman trying to wade through all the rhetoric). You post was actually more scientific than any other advice I had seen (both pro and anti). However my computer died and I didn’t have the heart to retype.
